Yvonne Hudson is a versatile nonprofit expert who has created mission-driven solutions for leading Mid-Atlantic organizations. Her consulting work in New York, DC, and Pittsburgh has included event, fundraising, and marketing/PR projects for Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management, Crisis Center North, PICT Classic Theatre, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Folger Shakespeare Library, and Sauces, among others. She has worked on the institutional advancement and communications staffs of the Kelly-Strayhorn Theatre, The Shakespeare Society, Carnegie Mellon, Chatham, and University of Pittsburgh. After serving as editor to revamp the flagship magazines of New York Law and Yeshiva University, she was guest magazine editor Emerson College’s restoration of the Cutler Majestic Theatre in Boston.
A journalism/psychology alumna of Point Park University, Yvonne earned an MA in arts management at University of Pittsburgh Department of Theatre Arts. During 10 years on the Pitt staff, she promoted and supported development for Three Rivers Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare in the Schools, and the opening of the Charity Randall Theatre with department founding chair Dr. “Buck” Favorini.
She serves on the board of Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks and has been a contributing theatre writer for Pittsburgh in the Round since 2016. Yvonne counts Quantum’s King Lear at the Carrie Furnace as one of her top Pittsburgh audience experiences.
A passionate Pittsburgher, Yvonne lives in with her partner and collaborator Lynette Asson and Sami, their Shih Tsu.
A singer and solo artist, Yvonne performs her long-running show Mrs Shakespeare, Will’s first & last love and portrays Emily Dickinson in The Belle of Amherst and her own The Poet Lights the Lamp.
