Former Don Allen Auto City, corner of Baum and S. Aiken
Quantum has a thing for great music. Voltaire’s raucous satire of the earnest principles of the Enlightenment plus Leonard Bernstein’s genius make for a completely compelling experience in 2009. Candide defies categorization - not musical theatre as we know it; not quite an opera; not really operetta or opera bouffe – it’s just itself, a sublimely sung tale of the discovery of evil and the endurance of hope.
The version we chose was produced on Broadway by The Chelsea Theatre Center of Brooklyn in conjunction with Harold Prince and Ruth Mitchell. Broadway production conceived and directed by Harold Prince.
Andres Cladera, Karla Boos, Nicole Kaplan, and John Wascavage appeared on WQED radio earlier this week to talk about Candide and to sing a preview. If you missed the segment, or if you want to listen to it again, you can find it online here.

Run time is 2 hours, which includes one intermission.
