A World Premiere by María José Galleguillos
Original Music by Emily Pinkerton

Starring Carolina Loyola-Garcia

Music Direction by Daniel Nesta Curtis
Stage Direction by Karla Boos

Quantum makes a world premiere based on the life, music, and multi-dimensional art of Violeta Parra. Pablo Neruda introduced her authentic interpretation of Chilean folk music to the world. Joan Baez sang her songs and emulated her activism. The Louvre exhibited her embroideries. And yet she eludes easy understanding, so we take the attitude of her brother, poet Nicanor Parra, and seek her essence in hauntingly beautiful music. Parra elevated all South American people, her music synonymous with protest movements that resisted dictatorships and improved the lives of thousands. She left us too soon, so join us to find her inspiration under a tent – a Quantum first! – in a stunning summer site.

Location & Directions

Frick Park Lawn Bowling Greens – 7300 Reynolds Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15208.

Ample street parking is available in the neighborhood on Reynolds, S. Lexington Avenue, Carnegie Place, and others.

We ask that you do not park on Dunfermline St. adjacent to the greens or its two offshoots: Richland Manor Drive and Ben Hur St. Residents have expressed their need for all of the limited parking spaces on these narrow dead-end streets. We appreciate your help in our efforts to be good neighbors during our time in Point Breeze.
