The River

Tony-winner Jez Butterworth (Jerusalem) has delivered a poetic and haunting next play. The River is part mystery, part gothic thriller, and 100% homage to the art of trout fishing.  A man has brought a new girlfriend to a remote cabin in the woods, by a river. So far, so straightforward, but the metaphors stack up, revealing what’s hidden there beside the real people in front of us and that real trout they’re going to have for supper.

I was completely enthralled--this show is a real pulse-quickener.

What a night of theatre! Choosing Aspinwall Riverfront Park was genius. I left this beautiful setting deep in thought.
