Gayle particularly had long naked speeches, physically and emotionally. But I remember most one beautiful moment, Gayle huddled on the long pew, sick, loving, tortured by keeping her promise, in the shadowy church-light, with the gorgeous Vaughn Williams music rising beneath the scene.
